Andrew Fetterolf Obituary

Andrew N. Fetterolf HELLAM TOWNSHIP Andrew N. 'Andy' Fetterolf, 70, died at 7:07 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2004, at his residence. He was the husband of Lucille 'Lynn' (Trout) Fetterolf. Mr. and Mrs. Fetterolf observed their 50th wedding anniversary on August 22, 2003. Mr. Fetterolf was born in New York, NY, on November 27, 1933, the son of the late Helen M. Archibald and Horace Mann Fetterolf. He spent 50 years in Aviation, flying for 13 airlines. He began flying as the youngest Flight Engineer to be hired by TWA and retired from United Parcel Service flying the DC-8. He also held a private pilot's license and was an instructor for many young pilots. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a 1951 graduate of Griswold High School and attended Penn State University. Andy was a member of Kreutz Creek Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder. He was a member of Riverside Lodge 503 F.&A.M.; a former member of Shrine and Knights Templar-Al Hasa; 1st Capitol Detachment of the Marine Corps League; Navy Club 259 of York; the Endowment Memorial NRA and the York Rifle Range; Korean Vets KWVA Chapter 178 of York; Kreutz Creek Valley VFW Post 7045 of Hellam; Abel-PoffLeithiser American Legion Post 469 of Wrightsville and the Victory Athletic Association. In 2002, Andy was awarded the Legion of Honor Award from the Chapel of Four Chaplains. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Davidson of Rhode Island and Karen Lee Grossman of New York City; a son, Craig Steven Fetterolf of Nashville, Tenn.; four grandchildren; a brother, Horace Mann Fetterolf Jr. of Havertown, Pa.; and a sister, Helen F. Moulton of Chatham, Mass. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Kreutz Creek Presbyterian Church, Old Church Lane, Hallam, with his pastor, the Rev. Marion HaynesWeller, officiating. Burial is in Kreutz Creek Cemetery, with graveside military rites conducted by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Etzweiler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York, with Masonic Services at 7:45 p.m. by the Riverside Lodge 503 F.&A.M. and Marine Corps League Services at 8 p.m. by the 1st Capitol Detachment of the Marine Corps League. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kreutz Creek Presbyterian Church, Old Church Lane, York, PA 17406. www.etzweiler.com
