Carson Joseph Obituary

SPRING GROVE Carson L. Joseph, 84, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2015, with his family by his side at Cross Keys Village at the Brethren Home Community in New Oxford. He was the loving husband of Norma J. (Cannon) Joseph. Together they shared over 64 years of marriage. Carson was born in N. Codorus Twp., on January 31, 1931. He was the son of the late Maggie M. Joseph and was raised by his aunt, Elizabeth Joseph, and his uncle, Elmer Joseph. He attended West York High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked at Metso Minerals, Inc. in York for 37 years and retired in 1993. He was a member of the Spring Grove VFW Post, IAM Union, Western York Democratic Club, where he served as a board trustee, and St. Paul Wolf's E.C.C. He was also a member and volunteered for MADD for over 25 years and volunteered for the York County DUI Task Force. He enjoyed working on his farm, traveling the U.S., and vacationing with his children and grandchildren in Chincoteague, Va., and the mountains. He had a passion for hunting and fishing and was a member of the Red Hat Hunting Club, but family is what he valued the most. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Katherine E. Joseph, and is survived by his loving wife, Norma; his five daughters, Cynthia Budrow and husband, Alfred, Cecilia Billingsley and husband, Bob, Charlotte Dick and husband, Charles, Carla Berkheimer and husband, Kevin, and Connie Smith and companion, Steve Krichten; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Wolf's E.C.C., Wolfs Church Road, York, with the Rev. Richard Benner officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service at St. Paul Wolf's Cemetery with military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Viewings will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, and on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. The family would like to thank the VNA of Hanover and Spring Grove, Debbie Leib, and the Nursing Staff on Somerset at the Brethren Home for the care and compassion that was given to Carson. Dear Norma and Family,
I saw you all last night @ your Dad's viewing. I remember as a child spending time w/your Mom and Dad. This is a Good picture of him. I'm sorry so many years have passed w/o contact.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you all @ this difficult time. You will all be in My Thoughts and Prayers over the upcoming weeks, and months.

It is hard to lose a parent, you will always have the memories. I lost my Mom 6 years ago it still is hard at times.
