Donald S. Kauffman

YORK Donald S. Kauffman, 81, passed away Monday, November 12, 2012, at his home. He was the husband of Mary C. (Welsh) Kauffman to whom he was married for 62 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. A viewing will be held from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Chapel. Born January 23, 1931, in York, a son of the late Guy F. and Maria (Crone) Kauffman, he was a 1949 graduate of William Penn High School. Mr. Kauffman retired from David Edwards Furniture Co. in 1996. Prior to David Edwards, he worked at Thonet Inc. and its predecessor, Home Furniture Co. He loved his woodworking career and also enjoyed completing projects at home. Mr. Kauffman liked to fish, listen to Bluegrass music, and watch NASCAR, western, and "How it is made" television shows. Mr. Kauffman loved his family and would never be found far from his wife, children, and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Mr. Kauffman is survived by three sons, David A. Kauffman of Hellam, D. Steven and wife Karen Kauffman of Brogue, and Richard M. and wife Diane Kauffman of Seven Valleys; a daughter, Sharon I. Snyder of York; three grandchildren, Janell Fisher, Alison Smith, and Griffin Kauffman; four great-grandchildren, Landen and Kellan Smith, Sebastian Kauffman, and Holland Fisher; a brother, Charles Kauffman of York; and two sisters, Caroline Rugh and Evelyn Poe both of York. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
