Hi, my name is Joe Jordan I'm so sorry for to hear of officer Nestlerode's death. He was a very influencial man in my younger years and I wouldn't be who I am without him. My mother sighed whenever he came to the house and asked which of the three boys it was this time.I would love to share some stories with you. I always got a laugh when he came to the gas station on his motorcycle; him being so big and it so small. As roudy as I was and our many interactions, good and bad, I knew he cared.I hope to know what a difference he made to me, as a police officer, gas customer, and friend brings some comfort and pride because I'm not the only kid that remembers him as such a man. Good bless you each, Joe

RIP Peace Fred. Fred was my training officer when I started with the Mount Joy Police in 1972. He left for the Springettsbury Twp police a short time later. Fred had an apartment in Mount Joy with a barn attached where we would play basketball inside. Fred was always very competitive and I love playing basketball with him. I became police Chief for Marietta Borough in 1980 and frequently one of my residents would come to me and tell me that they had met a friend of mine. At that point I knew they had gotten a speeding ticket from Fred on Rt 30 in
York. He always told anyone from Marietta that he stopped to say Hi to Bill Roberts. I have so many fond memories of Fred. What a great guy. See you on the other side Fred

My sympathies to Fred's family & friends! Freddy was my Field Training Officer when I was hired at Springettsbury. I quickly learned that Fred was passionate about everything he did! This would include his job as a Police Officer, zoning officer, and a softball umpire! Fred took much pride in his work. There was little rest when I rode with Fred; he always kept us quite busy! I enjoyed talking and playing various sports with Fred; everything from ping pong to softball. Both Fred and I were Cleveland Browns and Indians fans, however, i could not hold a candle to Fred's knowledge of sports, nor his enthusiasm. One of my favorite stories of Fred was when we were playing league softball at one of the Hoffman fields. Fred was the manager and wasn't playing much at that time. Fred put himself in the game and got some razzing from the opposing team. Fred took it in good nature and just waved for the left fielder to back up. Fred hit the ball about as far as I have ever seen a softball hit and just slowly rounded the bases with a home run. Freddy was a one-of-a-kind and will be missed by his family and many friends.
