George Sipling Obituary

George Sipling WEST MANCHESTER TWP. George J.C. Sipling, 86, of West Manchester Township, died Friday, January 17, 2003, at Normandie Ridge. He was the husband of E. Pauline (Hamme) Sipling. The couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on January 21, 2002. Service will be at 11a.m. Monday at Bethany United Church of Christ, 740 W. Locust St., York. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Service will be officiated by his pastor, Rev. Laverne DiNino. Burial will be in York Road Cemetery in Heidelberg Twp. The Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Sipling was born July 23, 1916, in Heidelberg Twp. He was the son of the late Clinton W. and Elsie M. (Kehr) Sipling. Mr. Sipling retired in 1979 as a department manager for Metropolitan Edison of Reading, where he was employed for 40 years. He was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ, where he was a former Elder and Sunday school superintendent. His strong Christian faith was a legacy to his family. He was a member of Patmos Lodge No. 348 F&AM, York Forrest Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Harrisburg Consistory Scottish Rite, Zembo Temple Shrine, and the York County Shrine Club. Mr. Sipling is survived by one son, Philip (Buchmyer) Sipling of Raleigh N.C.; one daughter-in -law, Donna (Buchmyer) Sipling of Raleigh , N.C.; three grandchildren, Jonathan Sipling, Eryn Sipling and Dustin Gouker; and one sister, Henrietta Stahl of Hanover. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Gouker; and a brother, Millard Sipling. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Church of Christ, 740 W. Locust St., York 17404; or to the VNA/Hospice, 218 E. Market St., York 17404.
