Harry Klunk Obituary

Harry J. Klunk, 78, formerly of Hanover, entered into God's eternal care Sunday, July 18, 2004 at 8:07 p.m. at Fairfax Hos pital, Fairfax, Va. He was the husband of Anastasia "Peggy" Bethas Klunk to whom he was married over 59 years. Born April 15, 1926 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Martin A. and Margaret Pentz Klunk. He relocated to Falls Church, Va. two years ago to be near his daughters. Mr. Klunk retired from P.H. Glatfelter Co., Spring Grove; and prior to that was a Foreman at Hanover Shoe for many years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover; American Legion Post #14; was a former member of the Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps; and the Amvets. A veteran of the US Navy, Mr. Klunk served during World War II. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Donna (Kopp) Chizz, Patricia Walters and her husband Stephen of Falls Church, Va.; two sons, Harry "Sonny" Klunk, Jr. of Ocean City, N.J., Peter Klunk and his wife Susan Cohee of York; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose Spurlock of Hanover; five brothers, Donald, Thomas, and Bernard Klunk, all of Hanover, William Klunk of Florida, and Edward Klunk of New Oxford. He was also the brother of the late Raymond, Paul, Charles, and Agnes Klunk, and Gloria Philips. A sister, Joyce Ginter also entered into God's eternal care on Sunday, July 18, 2004 in Hanover. The viewing will be 9 to 10 a.m. Friday morning at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Grandview Rd., Hanover, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday morning at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery with military honors by the Allied Veterans Honor Guard. The Rev. Joseph F. Gotwalt will serve as Celebrant. Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover is in charge of arrangements.
