Harry Seager Obituary

YOE Harry S. Seager, Jr., 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his residence on Wednesday, December 8, 2010. He was the husband of Ruth A. (Holcomb) Seager, who he married 51 years ago on August 15, 1959. Mr. Seager was born June 2, 1937 in Wilmington, Del., the son of Kathryn (Carrigan) Seager of York and the late Harry S. Seager, Sr. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Seager will be held on Monday, December 13, 2010, at 10 a.m. at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown, with the Rev. J.P. Bohanan officiating. A visitation will be held 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post #605, Dallastown. Mr. Seager is survived by three sons, Harry S. Seager III of York, David Wayne Seager of Dallastown, and Jeffrey Scott Seager of Yoe; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Seager of N.C., Robert Seager of York; and two sisters, Bonnie Bialcak of Blanchard, and Connie Hoerner of York. He was predeceased by a daughter, Kathy Ann Bailey. Harry was employed as a K9 Patrolman, then a Sergeant with the Virginia Beach Police Department and was employed later as a truck driver for Consolidated Freight until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion Post #605 in Dallastown where he was a former Director, Trustee, and Chaplain. He was a Past President of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #8 in Virginia Beach, Va. Mr. Seager's family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the York Unit American Cancer Society, 934-N. Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403. I grew up with strong men as role models, who served our country. My Uncle Sunny was one of them and he was very proud of his service, as a member of the military and as a law enforcement officer. He had a part in shaping me and guiding the direction I took in life. He is truly a great American and will be missed.
