Herbert N. Snyder Jr.

Snyder, Jr. YORK Herbert N. Snyder, Jr., 88, died Thursday, May 9, 2013, peacefully at York Hospital. Herb was born August 10, 1924, in West York, son of the late Herbert N. Sr. and Bernice (Yost) Snyder. He was a 1942 graduate of West York High School and then served in the U.S. Navy as a radioman during WWII. After the war, Herb attended Northwestern University and received his Bachelor's degree in 1950. Herb's main career was with the Social Security Administration at its headquarters in Woodlawn, Md. He retired from there as Director of the then Division of Rehabilitation. Following that retirement, Herb worked for another 10 years for the former York Bank. He is survived by several cousins; and a steadfast and loyal friend, James Livesay. A graveside service and interment will be held at Prospect Hill Cemetery, York. The Rev. Jack Craft will officiate.
