Having flashbacks all day, a nightmare last night. I'm so sorry I couldn't do more to help, to give you another chance. I think about you every time I see a bike. I hope you are resting peacefully and happy. And when I get the money to, I will put flowers at your cross. I never knew you, and I did everything I could to save you, unsuccessfully, and I'm not the one who caused this pain, but I am so sorry that this happened. I wish I could have met you in a better way. Rest peacefully, for you are now one of God's angels.

When I think of Jon I think of someone who wasn't like a lot of people in school. He didn't see the labels a lot of people did. Jock, bandgeek, nerd, loser, pothead, drinker, basketcase, etc. Jon could talk to and hold a conversation with anyone. He looked at people and saw them for them, not some walking stereotype. If more people in this world had Jon's open minded and gregarious personality, it would definitely be a better place.

Sadly though, Jon and I didn't really keep in touch after school; but I did run into him now and again. He would come up to me and say hi and we would talk for a bit. Thinking back to times I bumped into him really helps me to truely believe that he kept true to himself. He was one of those people you always throw the cliche "don't ever change" at, but in his case it was very true. He brought a glow to a room and kept smiles on peoples' faces. Simply put, he was just a great person. Seeing how many people have been paying respect to him is a testament to that.

My heart goes out to his family, Stacy and anyone else honored to have him in their lives.

Dear Joanne,
When I heard about your son's motorcycle accident, it stopped me in my tracks. I remember just shaking my head thinking this can't be true. Now, reading these wonderful letters about your family has made me realize how much similarity there is between you and your son. You both have touched people's lives in so many amazing ways. You must be so PROUD of him!! He knew he had a great Mom and wasn't afraid to express that. You are the envy of so many of us Moms! What an accomplishment for you in your life! Working with you at Strine, I know you bring joy to many people everyday. It sounds like Jon did the exact same. Now, your life has been forever changed. Please find comfort. Jon is still with you...only in a much different way now. You have so many people thinking about you and we are all here with you. With Much Love, Steph Gotwalt

Rest in peace Brother Jonah

"We didn't get to say goodbye
We're devastated that you're gone
We'd've done anything to keep you here with us
Right here where you belong
We didn't know that life would take
Such an unexpected path
That you'd be separated from us so soon
Heartbreaking reality we struggle to grasp
And bitter though our losing you has been
And so profound is the pain that we bear
We're sadder still at no chance for goodbye
No final expression of our deep love and care
Yet believing that you're not too far away
That your Spirit still lingers quite near
We'll say our goodbyes in our words and our thoughts
Trusting that each one you'll hear
First, know that you were loved in the truest of ways
So deep that only our hearts can give expression
You'll be forever surrounded by our love
For we're sending it straight up to Heaven
Please know that you'll be cherished by each one of us
For your example and kindness we'll treasure
We understand now how your life was a gift
That was meant to bless us forever
And though we'll miss you terribly
We want your Spirit to be free
Free to enjoy all the wonders of Heaven
Not bound to us in our grief
So watch over us with happiness from Heaven ..."

Jonah, I can't believe that I will not see you again my friend. I will not hear that goofy laugh. I will not see your passion for your teams, the Sox, Steelers and Pens. I will forever cherish your friendship. I am glad we had the times we had together. I regret missing the Burg Boys golf trip this year, but I will relish the last moments we had.
Please don't think about Jonah's passing, but celebrate that we got to spend the time we all got to spend together with him. Live life to the fullest as he did. Love your friends as he did.
I will miss you buddy, and I hope you got the biggest hug you ever got from your Dad as you came across that line. I only wish I could do that with you now.
To Jon's Mom, you had a great son. He will be missed forever. He was a champion of a man. He loved you dearly. I know the heartache will be with you forever. Rest assured that he was the most decent of people.
And Stacy, the time you spent together was far too short. I do wish it was longer. He was very happy with you and in a great place. This is tragic that it happened. I hope that as the days pass it gets easier.
I will miss you Jonah, but will remember you always. St. Jonah's Day won't be the same without you. Ted Koncsol
