Kyle Walker Obituary

Michael Walker YORK Bronley Kyle Michael Walker, 21, died tragically in an automobile accident Saturday, December 29th. He was the son of Dr. Bronley and Mrs. Lori Walker. Kyle was a 2010 graduate of York Suburban High School. He attended Five Towns College of Music and was presently enrolled at Millersville University majoring in journalism and political Science. At York Suburban he was on the staff of the school newspaper, "The Snapper" and was a contributing writer for "Fly Magazine". In addition to his parents, Kyle is survived by a sister, Kacie Walker of York,; a sister, Mrs. Kimberly Davies and husband Chris of Lawrenceville, Ga.; a sister, Dina Walker of Symrna, Ga.; a brother, Bronley Walker, Jr. and wife Allison of Shiloh; a sister, Mrs. Kristy Michael and husband Travis also of Shiloh. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Nancee Laster and husband Rod "Pop-Pop" of Reading; a maternal grandfather Barry Thompson and wife Gale of Augusta, Ga.; an Uncle, Larry Walker and wife Cindy of New Cumberland; an Aunt Sally Fringer and husband Earl "Sam" Fringer, Jr. of York New Salem; an Aunt Lisa Amspacher and husband Gary of Dover and an Aunt Leah Knisley of Reading. Also surviving are cousins: Jeffrey, Norman and Aaron Walker; Eric and Timothy Fringer; Lara Shildt and husband Michael and Grayson Knisley. Nieces and nephews: Alexander and Matthew Davies; Jessica Walker; Shane Dorsey; Kayla, Conner and Tyler Michael and Austin Walker. Kyle was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Carl and Erma (Shultz) Walker. He will be greatly missed by his buddy, Teddy, his loving Wheaten Terrier. Kyle had a great love of music and a keen interest in politics. His infectious smile and quick acerbic wit will be missed by everyone. Kyle marched boldly and unashamedly to a different drummer always wearing his "Chucks". May the beat go on. His family is greatly saddened by his early departure from this life and the great unfulfilled promises that were certain to be in his future. Kyle was realizing the passion that drives one to greatness. He was a person who could inspire by his attitude to live fast, endure pain and suffering to push the limits of what may be possible. He embraced the ideology of "Never say I can't" and "I am the first who ever has". He could lead when others could only follow, but sometimes leading in the wrong direction. He would hear music when others heard only noise. He understood that "You will rise and you will fall, but you must meet the challenge". He expounded the credo that "Every man dies, but not every man truly lives". His brief twenty-one years were not enough to fulfill his dreams. He was truly loved. A Celebration of Life Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Etzweiler Funeral Home and Cremation Service 1111 E. Market St., York. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery. A viewing will be Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to honor his passion at VH1 Save the Music Foundation, 1515 Broadway, 20th Floor, New York, NY 10036. www.etzweiler.com

To the Family of Kyle Walker:

I work at Millersville University. I am sad to hear of Kyle's tragic death. I too am the father of a 6'6" tall MU student, my son Peter. When I saw the photo in our student newspaper of Kyle standing by the 6'6" entrance sign to our parking garage, I at first thought it was Pete. From reading the article, it seems Pete and Kyle had more than just their height and age in common. Kyle was a good, smart, funny, well-liked young man. I am sure you were proud of him, loved him, and you will miss him.

I didn't know Kyle well at all, but he sat in the back of our philosophy class, and always challenged the proffesor. He was one of the few in that class who knew what he was talking about, and was able to defend his beliefs.

My prayers are with everyone who has ever had the blessing of meeting Kyle because I know how devastated we all are. Kyle was truly an amazing person who can never be replicated. The only explanation of this tragedy for me is that he had become too great for this world to contain. God called him home so that he could share is amazing personality and heart with more than just those of us who knew him. He is now able to share with everyone, those past and current. May his memory always warm the many hearts that he has touched. I can't wait to see you again Kyle. <3

To the family, please accept our condolences at the passing of Kyle. Such a tragedy to have lost him at such a young age. Dr. Walker, we have spoken and I know how truly proud you are of your son. I too, have lost a son at a very young age and I know how hard it is to go through a loss of a child but I found that as long as you keep your eyes toward God, you can handle anything.

When our men's Cross Country and Track and Field teams were dropped very unexpectedly at Millersville last February Kyle stood up for our athletes and let his voice be heard. He had no affiliation with any team members or the coaching staff. Yet he stood with the team to help fight against what most people at the University thought was a mistake. Not only that but he pulled me aside after a student senate meeting and offered to put me in contact with people that might be able to set up a non profit in order to help save the programs at Millersville. I was very struck but these selfless actions. Although I didn't know Kyle at all his actions spoke volumes about his character. I was very impressed. I'm sorry about the loss of this fine young man.

Kyle,

Some souls have too much creative energy, too much passion, too much verve, to be limited to the confines of an earthly life. Yours was one of those. Now you have no boundaries, your spirit is free... may your soul find peace.

"Made the scene from week to week
Day to day, hour to hour
The gate is straight
Deep and wide
Break on through to the other side"

With love,

Linda and Jerry Levans
