Marvin Lauer Obituary

Marvin E. Lauer YORK Marvin E. Lauer, 71, died at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2004, at York County Nursing Home. He was husband of 44 years of Virginia L. (Moore) Lauer of York. Mr. Lauer was born in East Manchester Township on August 19, 1932, the son of the late Lizzie Joanna (Seim) and Percy E. Lauer Sr. Marvin was a retired electronic technician for Progressive Information Technologies, where he was responsible for equipment and building maintenance. He was also a former supervisor of research and development for York Graphic Services, where he was awarded the craftsman of the year in 1968. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during the Korean War. Marvin was a 1950 graduate of William Penn Senior High School and obtained his Associate's degree in Electronics Engineering from CREI in Washington, D.C. He held a joint patent for API, which was an advancement in the phototypesetting process. He was an inventor, woodworker, artist and enjoyed electrical and mechanical hobbies. He is also survived by two daughters, Susan Attig and her husband, Michael of York and Diane Ruby and her husband, Douglas of Lorton, VA; a son, Mark Lauer and his wife, Megan of Hummelstown; six grandchildren; and a brother, Percy E. Lauer Jr. of York. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2004, at the Etzweiler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York, with the Rev. Roland E. Garvin officiating. Viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. www.etzweiler.com

jerry, susan, diane, and mark,

i saw in the paper that marvin has passed away. i want to offer my sympathy to all of you. i have many memories of him and all of you in my "growing up years" i spent alot of time in the "sun parlor" of your house with susan and all of our "barbies" i remember riding bikes in your driveway, where marvin was many times "in the workshop" he was fun, and wil always hold a special place in my heart. i hope all of you are doing well. i get some info every year around christmas with the cards that jerry and my mom exchange. you will be in my thoughts and prayers. kathy (kepner) geiple
