Dr. Paul Harper and his wife were humble neighbors. They were kind and caring individuals. I often think about them with nostalgia.

Paul Harper was one of several heroic figures that I encountered during my undergraduate years at Hofstra University in the 1970's. He was an inspired teacher, caring mentor and kind friend. It was an honor and privilege to know him, and he inspired me in part to undertake graduate studies in political science.. Thank you sincerely and deeply for all the good things you brought to my life,

To Paul's loved ones, I would like to express my most heartfelt condolences on your loss. Paul was my most beloved professor when I was a college student and he had a profound impact on my life. When I graduated from Hofstra, the Political Science department held its own special convocation for majors and their families, in which each graduate was honored with a personal speech by one of the professors highlighting that student's accomplishments not only in school but in the community. I did not know this in advance and was thrilled when my name came up and it was Paul who spoke of me.

A few years back another Hofstra professor told me where he was living and I phoned him. He remembered me immediately. I cannot begin to tell you the joy I felt when speaking with him again.

Paul was a wonderful man in so many ways, something I'm sure you already know, and was one of those people whose life made the world a far better place. May you take comfort in the memories of all the happy and warm experiences you shared with him. I feel priviliged to have known him.

My kindest and warmest best wishes to you.
