Preston Gohn Obituary

Preston L. Gohn, 83, died Mon day, September 8, 2003 at 7:16 a.m. at Colonial Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, after a lengthy illness. He was the companion of Nobbie Kinard and the husband of the late Nancy I. (Miller) Gohn who died January 23, 1983. He owned and operated Gohn's Grocery Store and was the former tax collector for Chanceford Township. He was a member of Bethel U.M. Church and Sunday School where he had served as the former Secretary and Treasurer. He was on the Executive Committee of the York County Republican Party. Born in Chanceford Township on June 30, 1920, he was a son of the late Mervin M. and Mary A. (Forry) Gohn. He is survived by three sons, Robert M. Gohn of Brogue, Dennis H. Gohn of York and Ronald L. Gohn of Red Lion; eight grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, M. Dale Gohn of Felton; and one sister, Arlene Howard Gross of York. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew P. Gohn who died April 6, 1996. Viewings will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion and Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Bethel U.M. Church in Brogue. The service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the church. His pastor, Rev. Michael H. Koplitz, will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel U.M. Cemetery.
