Rachel Smith Obituary

LANCASTER Rachel F. Smith, 84, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Mennonite Home. She was the wife of Raymond R. Rohrbaugh, who passed away on April 19, 1964, and Melvin E. Smith, who passed away in July 1995. She was born in Jackson Twp., York County, daughter of the late Edgar J. and Bessie J. Eyster Hamme. She was a cafeteria worker for the School District of Lancaster for 18 years before her retirement in 1983. She was a member of Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post #1690, Lancaster. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed traveling, embroidering, and gardening. Her family was very important to her. She is survived by one son, Kevin R. (Doreen) Rohrbaugh of Lancaster; one daughter, Alisa K. (Dr. G. David) Kolsun of Landisville; and five grandchildren, Kristen and Zachary Kolsun, and Todd, Heather, and Troy Rohrbaugh. She was preceded in death by one son, Keith Rohrbaugh; and two sisters, Theda Elliot and Mildred Whitman. The funeral service will be held at Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3225 Concordia Road, Columbia, PA 17512 on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mary Anne Kingsborough officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul's (Wolf's) Church Cemetery, York. Friends may call at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 114 W. Main St., Mountville, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church; or the Mennonite Home, 1520 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601.
