Richard Eline Obituary

Richard C. Eline, 87, died Friday, August 8, 2003 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Louise C. (Gemmill) Eline. The couple celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary July 27th. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 45 First Ave., Red Lion. Officiating the service will be his pastor, Rev. Lawrence C. Focht. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Full military honors will be given at 6:45 p.m. at the church by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Home Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Eline was born October 24, 1915 in Red Lion, the son of the late George W. and Minerva D. (Herrman) Eline. Mr. Eline was a master printer. He owned and operated Nu-Art Screen-Printing. He served as Mayor of Red Lion and as a member of the Borough Council for many years. He was the recipient of the Catherine Meyer Award. He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII, where he served as a Paratrooper. He was past President and founding member of the Red Lion Junior Chamber of Commerce, President of the Red Lion Lion's Club, Commander of American Legion Post #543 and President of the York Club of Printing House Craftsmen. Mr. Eline was a member of the F & A M Lodge #0649 and Elks Lodge #1592. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Richard C., and daughter-in-law Susan D. Eline of Baltimore, Md. A half brother, Sgt. Major Clarence E. Herrman, preceded him in death. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 45 First Ave., Red Lion, PA 17356 or American Heart Association, 2997 Cape Horn Rd, Cape Horn Plaza, Red Lion, PA 17356.
