Richard L. Hassler

Richard L. Hassler YORK Richard L. Hassler, 91, entered into rest Thursday June 9, 2005, at Manor Care North. He was the husband of Ethel M. (Schriver) Hassler for 65 years. Born April 22, 1914, in York, he was the son of the late Harry P. and Alice (Alwine) Hassler. Richard was a 1932 graduate of William Penn Senior High School, and a graduate of Valley Forge Military Institute, Penn State University and Columbia University. He was a U.S. .Navy veteran of WWll, serving as a lieutenant. He retired from York Suburban School District where he worked as a History Teacherand was a member of P.S.E.A. He was also a track coach for York Suburban. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2005, at Greenmount Cemetery, 721 Carlisle Ave., York, with the Rev. Margaret Smith, Chaplain for Heartland Hospice, officiating. The John W. Keffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2114 W. Market St., York, is in charge of arrangements.
