Richard Myers Obituary

Richard E. "Rich" Myers, 88, died peacefully Saturday, April 23, 2005, at 1:30 a.m. at York Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Evelyn "Ev" (Craley) Myers who entered into rest on August 27, 1988, and the late Beulah "Boots" (Bartolet) Myers. Mr. Myers was born May 18, 1916, in Harrisburg, a son of the late James E. and Elsie L. Myers. He was the owner/operator of Myers Mailing Service, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Red Lion Country Club, the Exchange Club of York and, a life member of both the Red Lion American Legion and the Red Lion VFW. He was a veteran of WWII, serving with the 8th Air Force. He was a First Lieutenant and flew 35 missions. Mr. Myers is survived by two sons, William J. Myers of York and Richard T. "Dick" Myers of Panama City Beach, Fla.; three stepchildren, Diane Marino, Randy Graham, and Robert Craley; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kathryn Malie of Stuart, Fla. and Helen Wellman of New Durham, N.H.; a brother, Paul Myers of Harrisburg; nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Louise Hively. A Celebration of Life service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York. Officiating will be the Rev. Stan Reep and Pastor Randy Graham. A visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. with full military honors by the York County Veterans Honor Guard at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, 2997 Cape Horn Rd., Red Lion, PA 17356. Dad, we will miss you dearly and love you always.
