Ronald Bowman Obituary

Ronald E. Bowman
Lancaster
Ronald E. Bowman, 74, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at his home.
He was the husband of Mary L. (Hunt) Bowman, with whom he celebrated 43 years of marriage this past May. Born in Lancaster on July 26, 1942, he was the son of the late Gerald E. and Virginia L. (Cree) Bowman.
A professional photographer for 55 years, Ron's career began with Sperry New Holland, WGAL, and Millersville State College as a photographer in the Public Relations Department. He free-lanced for a variety of well-known clientele including Armstrong World Industries, Curtain Call Costumes, Foltz-Wessinger, Inc. and Wood-Mode, Inc. Additionally, he founded Crystal Light, a multi-media production group, with several colleagues.
In 1999, Ron founded The Shadowlight Group, a large studio specializing in the design, construction and photography of room interiors for clients both national and international, where he served as its CEO, President and Creative Director until his retirement in 2012.
During his retirement, he was a mentor with SCORE -- Lancaster/Lebanon and devoted his efforts to Fine-Art and Digital Art Photography. His Route 66 body of work speaks to his love and appreciation of American culture. He considered "The Season of Light", a visual/musical interpretation of Lancaster County as well as a tribute to the Amish families who have lived there unchanged for generations, one of his most important works. In addition to photography, Ron loved music, reading, spending time in Avalon and was an avid car enthusiast.
Photography was Ron's passion and his creative eye captured stirring images of people, places and things. While business clients reaped the benefit of having an experienced story teller create memorable photos, his family and friends are left with lasting images that speak to who he was and for which he will always be remembered.
Ron graduated from J. P. McCaskey High School in 1960 and attended Millersville State College (1962-1964), and F&M College (1964-1969).
In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by his daughter, Lisa A. Hall of Lancaster; his son, Ronald G. Bowman of Lancaster; his, step daughter, Tamara S. Rue of Downingtown; his grandchildren, Joseph Rue, Tori, Hilari, and Chase Bowman, Alexandra Hall, and Courtney Enck Wettrau; his great-granddaughter, Khalessi; his brother, Lawrence G. Bowman and former wife, Lynda (Foote) Bowman.
Relatives and friends are invited to Ronald's Celebration of Life at the Bent Creek Country Club, 620 Bent Creek Drive, Lititz, on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 5 p.m. The family will be receiving guests following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to UNICEF and the Lancaster County SPCA, 848 S. Prince St., Lancaster, PA 17603.

My condolences go out to Mary and the rest of Ron's family. I went to Millersville State College (that dates me) when Ron worked there. I worked in the Printing and Duplicating Office and then got to work more with Ron. It was the best work-study job ever! I got to help with the multi-media presentation Ron put together for orientation. I called Ron last summer and spoke to him briefly. (My husband and I were in the process of searching for a home in the Lancaster area and I figured I'd get back in touch with Ron after we got settled in our new place.) I feel so sad that I didn't get back to him sooner. He was a big part of making my years at college as special as they were. Again, my sympathy to Mary and the rest of your family. Sherri York Smith

My sympathy goes out to all of Ron's family and
friends. Most of you would not know me because I knew Ron in elementary school
when we went to the Lancaster Township schools. Miss Zoe K. Cummings had just come
to teach music and wanted to start an
orchestra. Ron and I and several others
showed up so I guess we could be called "pioneers of the orchestra" there. Ron and I
both played violin and once played a duet for,
I think, a holiday concert. Miss Cummings left
the school, we graduated, and my violin collected dust after high school. But our enjoyment of music remained as well as good memories of LT and McCaskey. Rest in peace, Ron.
