Ronald H. "Ron" Gilbert, 86, died on December 12, 2017 at his home. He was the husband of Marilyn R. (Riffle) Gilbert, to whom he was married for 63 years. Born in York on August 10, 1931, he was the son of the late Arthur Gilbert, Sr. and the late Ruth (Norris) Gilbert.
Ron was a 1949 graduate of West York High School and a graduate of York Junior College. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of Luther Memorial Church.
Ron was a manufacturing planning engineer for Standard Register Company. He enjoyed bowling and golfing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Stephen Gilbert of San Francisco, CA, Susan Johnson and her husband, Stuart of Cornwall, VT; three grandchildren, Joseph and Benjamin Cadoret, and Martha Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Spencer, Sawyer and Seaver; a sister, Nancy Althoff of Summerville, SC; a sister-in-law, Doris Gilbert of York; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Gilbert, Jr.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to LifePath Christian Ministries, Attn: Engagement Office; PO Box 1968, York, PA 17405.
