Rose Kotchish Obituary

DALLASTOWN Rose Lang Kotchish, 91, passed away in her sleep Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Dallastown Manor Care, where she had resided for six months. Mrs. Kotchish was born November 18, 1922, in New Castle, daughter of the late Clarence John and Mildred Kraynack Lang. She was the youngest of four daughters. She married William J. Kotchish on October 14, 1950, and was happily married for over 55 years. The couple had one son, John M. Kotchish of York Township. The family was transferred frequently as Mr. Kotchish built his sales career. After they settled in York Township in 1973, Mrs. Kotchish took a job at Smith Village and she worked there through the 1980s. Mrs. Kotchish and her husband were active in Boy Scouting for many years. In addition to her son, Mrs. Kotchish leaves to cherish her memory her daughter-in-law, Susan (Billet) Kotchish; two grandsons, Christopher and Jonathan Kotchish; Jonathan's wife, Kelly (Henry) Kotchish; four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jacob, Kathryn, and Olivia Kotchish; a cousin, Shirley Wooten; many nieces and nephews; a number of close friends who considered her family; and her devoted dog, Jack. Mrs. Kotchish belonged to 517 Rainbow Chapter, Eastern Star, Red Lion, and St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 205 W. Main St., Dallastown, PA 17313, where memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 21. Her pastor, the Rev. Dr. Christopher D. Rodkey, will officiate. Mrs. Kotchish will be inurned next to her husband at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Donations may be made in Mrs. Kotchish's memory to St. Paul's U.C.C.; or to the New Birth of Freedom Council, Boy Scouts of America, 1 Baden Powell Lane, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050. Rose and I had some good times sitting in our lawn chairs in her driveway with Jack at her side, enjoying the warm weather. Miss you, Rose!
