Sherwood Amy Obituary
York - Sherwood "Woody" Franklin Amy, 82, of Springettsbury Township passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at York Hospital. Born September 6, 1936 in Pen Argyl, PA, he was the son of the late Earl B. and Mildred M. (Godshalk) Amy. He was husband of the late Patricia A. (Koehler) Amy of York.
Woody was a graduate of Pen Argyl High School and attended Penn State. He was a self-employed engineer who could fix anything and made friends everywhere he went. He traveled the world to build, install and repair commercial baking equipment.
Survivors included companion, Betty Yon; three children, Leslie (Amy) Behrends and husband, Mark of Kirkland, WA, Kelly Amy and companion, Daniel Duguay of Hanover PA and Michael Amy and wife, Christine (Helwig) of Spring Grove PA; grandchildren, Brett Behrends of Seattle WA, Julia (Behrends) Dull and husband, Jeff of Kirkland WA, Leah (Behrends) Cogle and husband, Mason of Kirkland WA, and Molly Behrends of Kirkland WA; great granddaughter, Zoe Dull; sisters, Eleanor Hampshire of Chiefland, FL and Anita Amy of Nazareth, PA and brothers, Leroy Amy and wife, Lucille of Bangor, PA and Barry Amy of Saylorsburg, PA
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 2164 Mt. Zion Road York, PA. Burial will following in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society https://donate.lls.org/lls/donate and the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary https://support.bestfriends.org.
