Steven Lee Bankert, 60, entered God's eternal care, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Hershey Medical Center.
Born February 19, 1957, in York, he was the son of Janet M. (Wagaman) Bankert and the late Charles E. Bankert. Steven was the loving husband of Cynthia A. (Trish) Bankert with whom he shared forty years of marriage.
Steven was a 1975 graduate of New Oxford High School. He was a HPO and MGO operator with Magnesita Refractories Co. (formerly Baker's Refractory), York.
Steven was a member of the McSherrystown Home Association, the Hanover Home Association, the Hanover Republican Club, the East Berlin VFW POST 8896, and AMVETS Post 22.
Steven enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, boating, bowling and golfing.
In addition to his loving wife, Cynthia, Steven is survived by his two sons, Todd M. Bankert and Michael D. Bankert both of Abbottstown; one grandchild, Kylie M. Bankert; and one sister, Beverly A. Keffer of New Oxford. He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael E. Bankert.
Following cremation, a memorial service to celebrate and remember Steven's life will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, with Pastor Cindy Garis officiating. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 1-2 p.m., Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
