Thomas Garrett Obituary
Naples, FL
Dr. Thomas Jesse Garrett, 85, Florida entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, March 7. Formerly of York, Dr. Garrett had been a Naples resident since 2000. He was born January 28, 1932 in York, the son of Elizabeth (Reimold) and Horace Garrett.
A graduate of Franklin and Marshall College, Dr. Garrett furthered his education at the University of Pennsylvania where he was awarded with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree in 1958. Upon graduating, Dr. Garrett served his country with the United States Air Force in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Garrett returned to York, and practiced with Dr. Robert Runyan of Belmont Dental Associates, 7 South Belmont Street, for 38 years.
Among his many talents and interests, Dr. Garrett was an avid golfer; he enjoyed fishing, traveling and hunting with the Red Top Rattlers. He was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of York, the American and Pennsylvania Dental Associations, the York County Dental Society, Sertoma Club of York, the Quarterback Club of York and the Starview Gun Club. Dr. Garrett took a genuine interest in the care of his patients and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was most of proud of his wife, children and grandchilden. He had a heart of gold and will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia (Hamershock) Garrett; his beloved children, son, Matthew and Anne (nee Shaw) Garrett, Phoenix, Maryland; daughter, Elizabeth and Matthew Dahlheimer, Aiken, South Carolina; daughter, Jennifer and Eric Pauley, Suwanee, Georgia; grandson, Evan Dahlheimer; and granddaughters, Sarah Pauley and Meghan Pauley.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, March 11 at St. Agness Catholic Church, 7775 Vanderbilt Beach Road, Naples, Florida. Burial will be at a later date in the Garrett Family plot in his beloved York. A reception following the mass will be held for friends of the family at Naples Heritage Country Club, 8150, Naples Heritage Way, Naples, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to York College of Pennsylvania, 441 Country Club Road, York, Pa. and the Salvation Army.

Our condolences to the Garrett family. Tom was one of the finest men I ever met and will be missed by all. I am sure I played golf with him more than 300 times in Naples and York and loved every moment. Wonderful dentist and outstanding parent! Pat, you are in our prayers.

My condolences to the Garrett family. I remember knowing Dr. Garrett in the early 1980's when I lived nearby and was friends with Matt, Liz, and Jennifer. i still think of the Garrett's when I drive by their old house on Witmer Rd. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

My love and prayers to the Garrett family.
Dr. Garrett introduced me to the outdoors many years ago at Red Top, and I think of him fondly when hunting and fishing in the mountains. Visits to the dentist were more than just a cleaning, as we laughed and reminisced of our adventures together. He made a positive impact in my life!
I will miss him dearly.

Tom bought the trailer and lived across the road from me. He was an Army veteran and served our country well. He had a dog named Trooper that was a great dog. I missed Tom when he moved away. So sorry to hear of his passing. Condolences to his family.
