Thomas P. Sullivan

NEW CUMBERLAND Thomas Paul Sullivan, 78, died Friday, July 12, 2013, in Golden Living, Camp Hill, after a long struggle with dementia. He was a retired co-owner /operator of L.J. Allen Tire, York; a 1954 graduate of Mt. St. Joseph High School, Baltimore, Md.; a graduate of Loyola College, Md.; and a Navy veteran serving on the U.S.S. Taconic during the Lebanon conflict. He was a member of St. Theresa Parish, New Cumberland, was an avid golfer and a die-hard Penn-Stater. He was a former member of West Shore Country Club, Reciprocity Club of Harrisburg, and Lower Allen VFW Post 7530. He was past president of Beacon Hill Community Association. He volunteered with Helping Hands Ministry. Tom was born in Boston, Mass., to the late Maurice B. and Anne G. (McDevitt) Sullivan, and was also preceded in death by an infant son, Stephen Sullivan; a brother, Maurice B. Sullivan; and a sister, Margaret Ann Ryan. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Dorothy L. "Dottie" (Willi) Sullivan; a son, Thomas P. Sullivan, Jr. (Deborah) of Red Lion; two daughters, Margaret A. "Peggy" Patrick (Edward) of Camp Hill and Maureen Sullivan Chasteney (Edward) of Vancouver, Wash.; two stepdaughters, Sherry L. Goehring (Joe) of Mechanicsburg and Sandra L. McDonald of Mechanicsburg; and 10 grandchildren, Jennifer and Steven Patrick, Erin, Thomas III, and Michael Sullivan, Olivia Chasteney, Dorie and Molly Goehring, and Jamie and Tyler McDonald. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, in his church with the Rev. Tiburtius Antony Raja as Celebrant. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to Mass at Parthemore Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
