Thomas Watson Obituary

SURRY, VA Thomas Curtis ''Curt'' Watson, Sr., 74, formerly of New Freedom, died Thursday, April 29, 2010, at his home. He was the husband of Norma (Isennock) Watson. Curt and Norma would have celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on May 29, 2010. There will be a viewing from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday from the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, followed by a 2 p.m. service. The Rev. Ryan Bastress will officiate. Burial will be in New Freedom Cemetery. Born June 24, 1935, in White Hall (Baltimore County), Md., Curt was the son of the late Arthur Perry and Margaret (McCarthy) Watson. Curt was a member of the Community Baptist Church of Dendron, Va. He will be best remembered for his love of music and played with the Faded Glory (Country) Band. In addition to his wife, he leaves sons, George Watson of Maryland, Kenneth Watson and wife, Patty of Seven Valleys, Billy Simmons of Greensboro, Md., Ricky Simmons and his wife, Brenda of Surry, Va., Nancy Ellen Skidmore and her husband, Donald of Reisterstown, Md., and Deborah Lynn Watson of Reisterstown, Md.; 23 grandchildren; 24 greatgrandchildren; one sister, Helen Rogers of Reisterstown, Md.; and two brothers, Robert Watson of Phoenix, Md., and Buddy Watson of Springfield, W.Va., Curt was preceded in death by a daughter, Terry Simmons; and two sons, Franklin Watson and Thomas Watson, Jr. Contributions in Curt's memory may be made to Surry Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 188, Surry, VA 23883.
