William Thew Obituary

TREVORTON William "Bizz" Thew, Jr., 83, formerly of Trevorton Road, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009, at Nottingham Village Northumberland, where he was a resident since October 30, 2006. He was married in August 1948 in Trevorton United Methodist Church to the former Mary K. Persing, who died February 25, 2000. He was born in Shamokin, on January 28, 1926, a son of the late William H. and Ethel (Kerstetter) Thew. Bizz was a lifelong Trevorton area resident. He retired in 1988 as an Electrician with IBEW local 607. He was a 1943 graduate of Trevorton High School and was of the Protestant Faith. Bizz was a member of Trevorton Athletic Associate, Devil's Den Hunting Camp, Elks, and Trevorton Fire Company. He was a life member of Herndon Fire Co. and Zerbe Rod and Gun Club. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Margaret (Peg) and Robert Williard of Herndon; three sons and two daughters-in-law, William and Barbara Thew of Trevorton, Dr. Michael Thew of York and friend, Anita Murren of New Oxford, and Robert and Brenda Thew of Milton; eight grandchildren, Lori Ann Steele and husband, Rick, William Thew, III, Tom Thew and wife, Kristin, Robert Williard, Stefanie Thew, Jennifer Thew, Lauren Thew, and Jamie Rupert; four greatgrandchildren, Jon Williard, Michael Steele, Brayden Rupert, and Jayda Sharp; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Lorrie Thew of Nazareth; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Chill Persing of State College; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanore Erdman and Marie Shaffer. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Robert G. Foust, Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, followed by the funeral at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Kay Painter officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to Trevorton Athletic Associate, c/o Craig Scott, 341 Scott St., Trevorton, PA 17881.
