Darrell Yeisley Obituary
Fawn Grove
Darrell R. 'Dutch' Yeisley, Jr., 85, passed away Friday, September 29, 2017 at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Dorothy (Rothermel) Yeisley, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage. Born on June 1, 1932 in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Ruth Ann (Austin) and Darrell R. Yeisley, Sr.
Dutch retired in 1989 from the Philadelphia Electric Company, Peach Bottom Nuclear Power Plant. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the aircraft carriers, USS Valley Forge and USS Yorktown where he was a combat air crewman VC-35. Darrell enjoyed being a stamp collector and dealer for 59 years selling philatelic material to customers at shows in several states.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, October 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 19 S. Main Street, Stewartstown. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Friday, October 6 at the funeral home with the Rev. David Stough officiating. Burial to follow in Fawn Grove Cemetery.
In addition to his wife, Dutch is survived by his children, Darrell R. Yeisley III and his wife, Carrie of York, Susan Kerns of Philadelphia, Elizabeth Waitinas of Mt. Vernon, IL, and David A. Yeisley of Harrisburg; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his siblings, Warren Yeisley of Melbourne Beach, FL, Gail Diefenderfer and her husband, Norman of Harrisburg, and Richard Yeisley and his wife, Valerie of Darnestown, Md. Memorial contributions in Dutch's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
