Darwin Rupp Obituary

Darwin Lamar Rupp

Red Lion - Darwin Lamar Rupp took the hand of his Lord and Savior when he heard him call on Monday, February 8, 2021, at 1:01 pm from Penn State Hershey Medical Center at the age of 72. He was born in Red Lion and was the son of the late Wilford David and Hazel Erelue (Zeigler) Rupp.

Darwin graduated from Red Lion High School Class of 1956. He worked for the railroad, the former Borg Warner, David Smith Electrical, Yorktowne Cabinets and OUC Power Plant in Florida where he retired after many years. He then owned a motor route carrier (for the Orlando Sun newspaper delivery). Darwin lived in Tampa and Orlando, Florida for more than 30 years and loved the beach, prior to moving back to PA. He enjoyed going RVing, his muscle cars (especially Pontiacs), his cats and politics. He attended Bethlehem Stonepile United Methodist Church.

Darwin had no children of his own, but he had many family members who he was remarkably close to. He leaves his sister, Shirley A. Tredway of Red Lion. He was the loving uncle to Suzette Snyder (Matthew W.) of Red Lion, Cynthia A. Holland (Todd M.) of York, David Rupp of Brogue, Tammy Bennett of Dover, and great uncle to Joseph D. Burns (Alexa L.) of Airville, Kara M. Holland and Paige E. Holland of York, and the great great uncle to Landon W. Burns of Airville. Darwin is survived by his two sister-in law, Janet Rupp of Red Lion and Brenda Rupp of Brogue, along with his cousins, Bryan Sellers of Dallastown, and Lynn Wingard (George) of York, and many other numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and family, as well as his loving animal family, his dogs and cats. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Horace Tredway, a nephew, Jeffrey L. Tredway, two brothers, Glenwood D. Rupp and Wilford D. Rupp Jr., nephew Rich Bennett, his aunt and uncle, Sabrie and Bruce Sellers and a cousin, Barrett Sellers.

We will miss Darwin very much. Our entire family has been great friends with him for many years. He was always there for us. Many times he helped with Grandma Alma Clough in Orlando. We have so many great memories with Darwin. He was a member of the family. So many times he would offer help with electric projects and always loved being around anytime we were working on our cars. Darwin had so many friends here in Central Florida. He will be remembered forever. Our family is so sorry for your loss.
