John A. Walbrecht, age 76, of York, Neb., died on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Grand Island, Neb. He was born on June 14, 1949, in York, to Clarence Albert and Arlene Beatrice (Meyer) Walbrecht. John had worked in the electronic maintenance field, lastly at Dale's Electronics in Columbus, Neb. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. He enjoyed collecting antiques and playing Santa Claus.
He is survived by his son, Christian Walbrecht, of York and son, Matt (Nahleen) Walbrecht, of Fairmont, Neb., and their children, Nikoli and Malcom. He is also survived by his siblings, Janice (Ed) Gendron of Noblesville, Indiana, Marsha (Mike Ramirez) Valbrecht of Des Moines, Iowa, Marvin (Pete) Walbrecht of York, and Barbara (Ron) McPhillip; nephews, Chris Walbrecht (Tammi Sahling) of York, Justin Sagg, Tim Gendron, Jeff Gendron, and Bobby Gendron.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and former wife, Raine (Lisa Walbrecht).
Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, September 12, 2025, at Metz Chapel in York. Inurnment will follow at Council Cemetery, southwest of York. Visitation will be held one hour prior to his service. John has been cremated. No viewing. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation. Condolences may be left for the family at metzmortuary.com. Metz Mortuary in York is handling arrangements.
