Lee J. Batterton

1933 - 2024

Lee J. Batterton, age 90 of York, died Friday, March 8, 2024 in York. He was born on April 18, 1933 to Lucious and Anna (Shellingburg) Batterton in Springfield, Mo. On October 31, 1957 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Sadler in Nevada, Mo.

Lee proudly served our country in the United States Army. He was the owner of Batterton Water- Proofing, and also Lee's Legendary Marbles & Collectables in York. Lee loved collectables, especially marbles, and antiques. He also enjoyed vintage cars and traveling.

Lee is survived by his sons Michael W. Batterton (Lori Eichelberger) of York, Charles W. Batterton (fiancé Paula Underwood) of Norfolk; daughter, LeeAnn (Lonnie) Klemsz of York; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Glenda Parma of New Port News, Va., Kathy (Raymond) Howell of Attica, Kan. and brother, Lonnie (Leslie) Garvin of Fort Smith, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn and brothers, Don Batterton and Les Batterton.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Metz Chapel in York, with the Reverend Mike Neidow officiating. Inurnment will follow the services at York's Greenwood Cemetery. Lee has been cremated, no viewing. However, visitation will be held from 1 - 8 p.m. on Friday with the family greeting friends from 6 - 7:30 p.m., the same evening all at Metz Mortuary in York.
