Susan Neville
October 18, 1950 - September 8, 2025
Susan Neville, age 74 of McCool Junction, NE died Monday, September 8, 2025 at McCool Junction. She was born October 18, 1950 in Deshler, NE to Martin and Dorothy (Wulf) Schmidt. She was married to Don Neville on February 6, 1971. This union was blessed with three wonderful children, two sons, Jason and Tim, and one daughter Shannon.
Susan graduated from York High School in 1968. Her and Don settled down on their piece of Heaven on earth on the hill outside of McCool Junction together on December 25, 1972. She joined the local Fire Department in 1981. She was in McCool Junction's inaugural Emergency Medical Team created in 1984 and was the EMT Captain for 24 years before retiring in 2010. In addition to raising three children, she was active in their successful farm operation and the Neville Construction company alongside her husband Don. She was also instrumental in the operation of her parents' small businesses Daylight Donut (York), and Smitty's Liquor from 1981 until selling it in 2011. Sue never knew a stranger and was a friend to many, so this small business was ideal for her outgoing personality. She loved dancing and music and always shared her time, treasure and talents with those she loved. You could find her teaching others how to raise and butcher livestock, play the piano, country swing, cook, garden, and even operating a pop-up beauty shop as needed.
She is survived by her sons Jason Neville (life partner Simone) of Geneva, NE, Tim (Kris) Neville of Omaha, NE, and daughter Shannon (Dustin) Heying of Pine Haven, Wyoming, twelve grandchildren, Hannah, Bailey, Riley, Cole (Alexa), Caleb, and Claire Neville, Brady (Ashton) Jones, and Katelyn Jones and Dustin, Daxton, Dylan and Dawson Heying, three great grandchildren Baker Neville, Callum Jones, and Clay Bosse, sisters, Linda (Bob) Gibbs, Gina (Joe) Michel, brother Rob (Tracy) Schmidt, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, late husbands, Don Neville and Rick Branting, and son-in-law Randall Jones.
