LAURA RACHEL LINDSEY CROMER
ELLERBE — Laura Rachel Lindsey Cromer, born June 8, 1929, transitioned from this life on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Meadowview Terrace of Wadesboro.
She was a lifelong resident of Ellerbe, NC and first African American female to serve on the Ellerbe Town Council. Funeral Services will be held at the Agape Family Center at Sidney Grove Church of Deliverance on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 11 a.m. located at 402 McIntyre Rd, Ellerbe, 28338, NC with Bishop Arlester Simpson officiating.
A public viewing will be held before the service at 10 a.m.

I had came to help Mrs. Cromer out some with Ms. Peggy, yet in the end it was Her that helped me with her sage advice and readiness to listen. Although she has passed on,
Her memory forever stays.
Remember how she smiled,
And the joy she always gave.
We'll miss her all the time,
And think of her every day.
Her love filled the world -
A love that will never fade.
We have known the Cromers since the 1970s. Our father, the late Elder Lloyd Sawyer, the late Elder William Cromer, Sr., the late Elder Curtis Morman, the late Elder James Turner, Sr., and the late Pastor Kenneth Harrell, were brothers in the Lord and fellowshipped in the Church of God in Christ.
On behalf of the Sawyer family, we will miss our beloved mother in Christ. We extend our sincerest condolences to Elder and Mrs. William Cromer, Jr. and the family of Mother Laura Cromer.
Mother Cromer, well done. Good and faithful servant.

Mrs. Cromer was one of my Cosmotology teachers at RSHS in 73/ 74 (1st Cosmotology class of 74). She was so caring and knew how to teach us so much about hair with practice and being patient. Truly a beautiful lady in so many ways. Prayers for the family.
