ROCKINGHAM, N.C. — Mildred Louise Moates, 72, of Rockingham, died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015 at Richmond County Hospice Haven. She was born Feb. 8, 1943 in Mecklenburg County, a daughter of the late Fairley Floyd and Evelyn Twitty Lassiter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Olin Moates.
Surviving are three sons, Wesley Moates, Kenneth Moates and Harvey Moates, all of Rockingham; three stepsons, James Moates of Darlington, South Carolina, Larry Moates and William "Butch" Moates, both of Batesburg, South Carolina; and a brother, Larry Blue of Bear Creek, North Carolina.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Southside Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Ricky Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Cheraw, South Carolina.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday prior to the service at the church and at other times at the home of her son, Wesley Moates, 140 Kimmer Road, Rockingham, NC 28379.
The family wants to thank her caregiver of 24 years, Molly Hoffman.

Mrs. Moates became part of my life 24 years & 1 week ago, when the plant fire struck. She was a very brave woman and her husband, Olin's, love and care will be remembered by those of us who had the privilege of knowing them. She is with him again and at peace. My deepest sympathies to the family.
