Ruth was born in Vinson, Oklahoma on December 17, 1930. She went through The Great Depression and the Dust Bowl days during her youth in Oklahoma. Ruth was just 15 years old when she met and married Alvie Joe Mitchell on July 29, 1946, in Wellington, Texas. They were married for 67 years before Alvie passed away in 2012. Ruth and her sister Dolly met the Mitchell twin boys (Alvie and Allie) while on a country road walk near their home. Ruth and Dolly married the twins and both marriages lasted a lifetime.
Family was so very important to Ruth. She enjoyed family reunions, cooking for her family, making birthday cakes for them and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ruth's loving passion was babies and children. She never met a baby that wasn't the most beautiful thing in God's creation.
Since Ruth only got to the eighth grade, she was very passionate about her children getting an education. She required her kids to work hard to get good grades.
Ruth was raised worshipping at the Church of Christ, and she loved her church and its fundamental teachings of right and wrong. Ruth would always try to get her hair done so that she would look nice on Sundays. Ruth enjoyed western music, vegetable gardening, and visiting relatives.
As all of her family knows, Ruth was also very passionate about her politics. She wanted to make sure that she was healthy enough to vote for Trump in this election.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, ten siblings and granddaughter: Brady Mitchell Kent.
