DR. WILLA JOAN LANE

DR. WILLA JOAN LANE Dr. Willa Joan Lane age 94 was a long-time resident of Glen Rose. She passed away early Friday February 28, 2025, here in Glen Rose. Visitation for Mrs. Joan Lane will be held on March 6, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. at the Glen Rose Wiley Funeral Home Chapel. A committal service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on March 7, 2025, at Squaw Creek Cemetery in Glen Rose Tx. Willa Joan Manes was born on May 25, 1930, in Oklahoma City, OK to her late father Marvin and her mother Ethal Manes. She was known as Joan by her friends and anyone who has ever met her. In her youth she was a "Hormel Girl" in her early 20's she traveled the world with 60 other girls as ambassadors for the Hormel Ham company. Her friend Gilberta and she drove to Phoenix to find work as a teacher. She went to work at the Williams Air Force Base. There is where she met her future husband, Lynn Lane. She furthered her career by getting her "Doctorate" degree. She became a counselor in Psychology at Arizona, New Mexico and Joshua Texas. She was also part of the senior Olympics of Roswell in 2003. Willa was an active member of the Methodist Church. She loved to attend Sunday school. She was known for her elegant style and her unique jewelry. She donated to the Lane Garage Building to the city of Glen Rose. Willa was a long-time contributor to the local Veterinarians in Glen Rose by helping pay for pets to be Spade or neutered. Willa is survived by her friend and caregiver Darlene Franks and her friends Nancy Willis and Shawna Bryant. Willa is preceded in death by her parents, her son Lee Nathan Lane, her husband Lynn Roland Lane and by her three brothers, Marvin, Doyle, and Jerry Manes.
