Alfred Guy Tatro
August 18, 1952 - November 5, 2025
Alfred Guy Tatro, 73, a proud member of the Quechan Indian Tribe, passed away on November 5, 2025, surrounded by his family and friends at his home on the Ft. Yuma Indian Reservation, State of California. Alfred was born in Yuma, Arizona on August 18, 1952, his parents were Alice and Fred Elmer Tatro.
Alfred was a graduate of San Pasqual High School in 1970. After graduation from High School, he was drafted by the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge in 1973. He served with the National Guard, as a Military Police for five years. He was also a member of Quechan Veterans Post 802.
Alfred enjoyed fishing and bicycling, doing 125+ mile competition rides. He also enjoyed attending Traditional Gatherings with his family.
He was the youngest member of the original Ft. Yuma Scouts basketball team.
Alfred was an avid fan of the AWC Basketball team and a member of the AWC Athletic Association from 2017 to 2024.
Alfred was a carpenter, he worked for different construction companies and always let the family and friends know that he was proud of helping build the Coronado Bridge that links San Diego and the Coronado Island and also the Interstate 8 Freeway that crosses over the Colorado River from Arizona to California.
He was the founder/co-owner of Indian Joe's Fry Bread Concession that took part in the Yuma County Fair for the past 20 years.
In his later years he worked as an Inspector/Site Manager for the Quechan Housing Authority for 22 Years. During that period of time he was instrumental in building three subdivisions.
Alfred was a supporter of the Quechan Spirit Runners.
He was a member of the Nazarene Cocopah Church, Somerton, AZ.
Alfred is survived by his wife of 26 years, Dorinda Ironcloud-Tatro; daughters, Angela Padilla (Adan), Winona Harvier Sota (Joey), Celisse Conejo (Juan), Stella Ironcloud (Wayne) and Brina Ironcloud. Sons, Aaron Tatro, Ivan Harvier, Chato Harvier, and Jason Coyote (Terina). Fourteen grandchildren and one great grandson. Sisters, LouJean Vega, Eileen Valenzuela and Juanita Tatro. Uncle Felix Montague (Joann), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Native brothers, James Montague and Philbrick Emerson.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Montague Tatro; father, Fred Elmer Tatro; grandparents, Joe and Alice Montague; daughter, Ona Tatro; son, Thomas Ironcloud; sisters, Marian Tatro, Eva Marie Smith, Margaret Ann Tatro and brother, Fred Tatro, Jr.; grandsons, Jeremiah Angel Chaipos, Mark Matthew Ironcloud-Juan.
Pallbearers: Wayne Chaipos, Juan Conejo, Andrew and Joseph Andrews, Ladarius Jackson, Mike Montague Jr., Xzavier Juan, Ethan Jockovich, Kyle Vega, Zakkary Vega.
