Ernest Hurtado Obituary
January 27, 1951 - September 26, 2025
Ernie began his new life on September 26, 2025 when he went to the Lord.
He worked for 40 years in the auto parts business, from a salesman to a manager. Ernie was the life of the party and everyone was invited. He will be best remembered by hanging out at Eagles #398, Club Latino or a softball field. He was very proud when he got inducted into Yuma's Softball Hall of Fame.
Ernie leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Becky Ghiotto; children, Christopher Ghiotto, Veronica Hurtado, Nicky (Nickole) Hurtado; his sister, Mary Lou Hurtado; his great niece, and nephew who he helped raise, Vanessa Orozco and Robert Bohanon.
He is preceded in death by mother and father, Ernest and Bertha Hurtado; brother, Edward "Louie" Hurtado; and son, Ernest Mendoza. He leaves behind nine grandchildren and five dogs.
Services will be Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Yuma Mortuary, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with Rosary at 7:00 pm. A Mass will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Church, 505 S. Avenue B.
A reception will be at the Fraternal Order of Eagles #398 225 S. 1st Avenue, right after the Mass.
Pallbearers will be Chris Ghiotto, Albert Duran, Steven Hurtado, Yzekiel Hurtado, Bobby Hurtado Christopher Wallace, Robert Bohanon and John Ghiotto.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Albert Orta, Jarrett Magdaleno, Alex Ramos, Alex Villa, Alex Torres, Pancho Flores, Jaime Pina.

Mr Ernest"Ernie"Hurtado Presente~+~Rest in Peace my brother/father. You were a good man,friend to all, role model always there for those of us that needed. Its ironic yesterday I drove by your first employer here in San Diego,old Lamb Chevrolet and today I have an appointment a few blocks from your Nana Chonas house next to Balboa Park where you first lived. I came to live with you when I was 12 and watched rent 1 house 2 apts in National City and buying your first home in Spring Valley.
Your first job here at Lamb Chevrolet(parts person) to McQuay Norris(West coast auto parts sales rep).You had to wear a suit and fly out every Monday and come back on Friday up and down the west coast.
Your first bar you owned Andy's in Encanto. The numerous cars and trucks you owned that I learned to wash and wax,my favs were the Grand Torino and the custom VW bus. Sunday morning breakfasts at Dennys or Ihop.
You had to take me on dates with my sister to taking me in as a teen. I was there for the birth of your first son Boogs and there when you sold your home and moved back to yuma. Because of you I stayed marrying(you came to) starting a family still married 47yrs. I give you so much credit for my success as I learned so much from you as you nurtured my limitations yet lighting the way to show if you could do it so could I. I woke up this morning to your news so I missed your services and that truly pains me but know we loved you and will never forget you.
