Christopher "CJ" Walk Obituary

After a courageous battle with cystic fibrosis, Christopher Jon Walk went to be with Christ his Savior on August 21, 2010. He was surrounded by family and friends at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix. CJ spent his last days as he did his whole life--focused on comforting those who would miss him rather than concerning himself with his condition.

Born November 5, 1981 in State College, Pennsylvania, CJ is survived by his wife of five years, Jennifer; his parents, Kathryn Dellicker of Yuma and Jon Walk of Phoenix; stepparents, Scott Dellicker and Lori Walk; his sister, Katie Dellicker; and brother, Andrew Walk. He is also survived by his grandmother, Christine Madden Gugger of Florida; grandparents, Henry and Jackie Dellicker of Massachusetts; and his special Auntie, Ellen Myers of Maryland. Survivors also include his mother- and father-in-law, Eileen and Jon Porter, and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jonathan and Janet Porter, Fausto and Tina Lopez, Dan and Bethany McGrew (all of Yuma) and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandparents William Madden and Carlie and Frank Walk.

CJ spent his early years playing basketball and soccer and skateboarding. He attended Pueblo Elementary, Crane Middle School, and graduated from Cibola High School in 2000.

As a young adult, CJ became a successful Christian hip hop and rap artist known as Citizen Aim. He was a founder of Cerebral Arts where he contributed as a performer, writer, and producer. He most recently became a member of the record label Humble Beast, collaborating with other West Coast artists. He provided intelligent music and conveyed a message of real-life honesty and his deep love of Christ.

CJ inspired us all. He touched the hearts and minds of so many. We will never forget what he taught us about love, kindness, and courage.

Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, August 28, at Stone Ridge Church. Funeraria del Angel is handling funeral arrangements, including cremation. Please sign the guestbook at www.yumasun.com/obituaries. To read more about Citizen Aim, visit the website http://humblebeast.com/artists/citizen-aim.

Chris was one of my favorite patient's. He was always a fighter and so sweet and polite. He will be missed, but he can breath easy now. God be with you all in your time of sorrow.

CJ and I were very close friends during our Jr. High era. While growing up in Rancho Verde, we made a habit of playing baseball and basketball (mostly basketball), but we made it a point to be done before "Seinfeld" started. We would call and discuss the episode every Tuesday night when it was over, of course, on top of talking about it all the time. CJ was truly one of only about 5 friends I have had my whole life and to hear this news makes me angry with myself that we never stayed close. He was an amazing friend, and I am sure, an amazing man! To his wife, if you read this...If you want to talk about anything, please call, email, text or whatever to reach me. My heart goes out to you and both families. Please let me know what you need.

Scott and Kathy -- So very sorry to hear about CJ. I know you'll miss him terribly. I didn't know him, but I know you two and that puts him in the top grade with me (not to mention he's a Pennsylvanian). Hang in there. I hope to see you again some time, maybe in Boston where I'll be in October. Love to both of you from Marna and me. . . . . John

Read about CJ and had to share that we lost Matt 2 years ago to CF. Matt was 22 and enjoyed 5 years after his lobar transplant. Our family has attended many CF celebration of live services and one thing is common, a CF patient is an Angel from God that we have for a short time to give us a glimpse of what a heavenly being is like--

Grace,Love and Peace to the Walker Family

Jennifer and Jon and Lori. My deepest condolences to you on your loss. I remember CJ as a little fellow playing in the Kofa gym. To think that the energetic child grew into a talented young man who shared his gift with so many. May God be with all of you at this time. Karen McNiel
