David Estabrook Obituary
January 19, 1941 - December 8, 2024
David was born on January 19, 1941 in Sanford, Maine, the eldest son of Roy Bard Estabrook and Evelyn Jessie (Harrison) Estabrook.
He graduated from Sanford High School in 1959, then went on to the University of Maine and the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a master's degree in Education.
It was in Sanford where David met and married Jean Louise (Wold) Estabrook. They shared over 50 years together, raising their family and experiencing life's wonderful adventures.
David was the Education Director at the Smithsonian Institution, later serving as Director of the Chattanooga Regional History Museum. He also owned and operated two successful laundromats in Yuma, Arizona, where he eventually retired.
David loved sports and education and was able to enjoy both as he refereed basketball and later, volleyball, for over sixty years.
David never met a stranger and always made a point to talk to every person he met. He found great joy in meeting new people and making them smile. He was an avid baseball fan and history buff. Family, faith and country were most important to him.
David is survived by his children, Bard Estabrook, David Estabrook, Jr., Shauna Lete, and Diana Warner; grandchildren, Stephanie Ortega, Cody Warner, and Jessie Warner; brother Roy Estabrook and sister Brenda Bragg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Yuma and St. Jude's of St. Louis.
Memorial services will be held on January 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Advantage Funeral Home - Golden Door, Youngtown, AZ. There will be a reception following at The Loyal Order of Moose at 9550 W Peoria Avenue.

Dave E as I called him, I was Dave A, was always on time and very organized when he got to the courts for volleyball on the rim. he knew the rules and your right, he always greeted those at the table, the coaches, and other school officials at the games. I always looked forward to being his partner for vb games up north. I missed him as he stopped coming to the rim county but played pickleball in the valley. Rest in God's peace my friend. Dave Ashton

Although I did not " hang out" with Dave very much, he still influenced my life and the lives of many drama students at Fourth Avenue Junior High. I was the drama teacher. Dave came in on his time and built a drama stage for us on the top floor in the auditorium. It was a selfless act that benefited many performers. That was the kind of man Dave was. This world needs more people like Dave

So sorry for your loss. I have known the Estabrook family since 1956. I remember David and Jean and their young family at the Estabrook house. I was at the Estabrook house everyday because I was and I am still friends with Brenda and although I haven´t seen Roy in many years we still remain friends. Judy was also a good friend in my younger years and it is so sad she passed away too soon.

Dave andi were basketball partners in Yuma/Parker for many yrs. Called a tight game,had fun and kept the game moving. Dave had a unique travel call with a hop. He shared some great stories at Ref parties. He worked over 60 yrs in Maine,Arizona refing high school and jr. High games. Will miss his detailed e-mails. RIP Dave
