I just heard about Judge Stanley´s passing. Thinking of each of you with respect and love. I was so blessed to really `first´ meet you all at my cousin´s wedding - never understanding our family ties. It was as if I was sitting with MY family, listening to your old stories unfold. I learned so much and was glad to see you both again up at your home in the high desert. My kindest regards to each of you. He was good for Yuma, the Courts and our communities. Carry his enthusiasm and love of learning with you. He will never be far from your hearts.

Many moons ago, the entire Stanley family was a part of my life. I have never forgotten the days of playing in the backyard, sharing childhood birthdays, tubing on the 4th of July on the Colorado, and being taken care of every Thursday while my dad was working by Doug, Caryl and their kids. Sorry to hear of this legacy of a man passing. My thoughts are with you all. Much love and fondness...

It was my honor to know and work for Judge Stanley. He took a chance on me - a young, inexperienced court clerk - and sat me right beside him as his courtroom clerk. I learned so many life lessons listening to him talk to his "clients." I'll never forget one of his lessons he often taught during sentencing... T.H.E. (temptations, habits, and emotions)... If a person loses control of any one of these three things, trouble is bound to happen. I could name so many other lessons about life he shared during those mornings I spent with him that I still hear today and share with my own children. Then, when it was time for me to marry, Judge Stanley gladly married my husband and me in his courtroom, touting that no couple he had married was divorced. Still married today, my husband and I keep our cherished gift from Judge Stanley hanging on our wall at home as a reminder of our family values. I will never forget Judge Stanley. Sending his family and friends peace and love, Heather Lekan Snyder

Judge Stanley was my friend and his way of life and his work was an example to all that knew him and witnessed his honesty and devotion to fairness and the rule of law. RIP old friend, Jim Slater
