Gary Raffensperger Obituary

Gary Lee Raffensperger

1949-2024

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Gary Lee Raffensperger, age 75, who died unexpectedly in Yuma, AZ, on September 4, 2024.

Gary was born June 8, 1949, in Van Nuys, CA, to parents Alfred and Winifred (Tegard) Raffensperger.

The family moved to Ventura, CA, the summer of 1957. Growing up Gary enjoyed many family camping trips to Lake Cachuma, CA, and to several National Parks in the Western United States. Gary graduated from Ventura High School in 1967 and attended Ventura Community College. He joined the Navy in 1968 and served as an aviation mechanic on aircraft carriers and Navy air bases. His first deployment was on the USS America during the Vietnam War.

After retiring from the Navy, Gary enjoyed traveling with his fifth-wheel trailer, spending the winters in Arizona and Southern California and the summers in Washington State.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents.

Gary is survived by his partner, Sandy Bugg; sister, Cheri Wolfe; brother, Terry Raffensperger; daughter, Jewel Eback; step-son, Brad Bridgman; granddaughters, Angel Eback, Crystal Eback (Juan Garcia), and Nichole Graves (Nick); eight great-grandchildren; and niece, Antoinette Woolf (Steve).
