Harry Longbottom Obituary

MAJ Harry Wm. Longbottom - Army RET

December 10, 1951 - March 31, 2022

Harry Longbottom, 70, of Yuma, Arizona passed away o n March 31, 2022.

Harry was born in Ngoya, Japan on December 10, 1951. Harry graduated high school from A.T. Mahan in Keflavik, Iceland in 1970. He studied Army ROTC at Kansas State University A&AS, Manhattan, Kansas, until 1974 then continued his study of law at Washburn University of Topeka Kansas School of Law where he completed his Juris Doctorate in 1977. Harry was then Commissioned as an officer in the United States Army in 1978 and served his country and the United States Army for over 20 years before retiring in 1998 as a Major. After honorably retiring from the US Army, Harry continued to practice law as a Lawyer and Partner at Byrne, Benesch, Longbottom and Villareal from 1998 through 2001 and as a Lawyer and Sole Practitioner at Harry Wm. Longbottom, Attorney at Law, PLLC for the last 21 years.

Harry is survived by his wife of over 30 years Faith Miller. Harry and Faith met in Germany in 1988 where they fell in love, not only with one another, but also Germany, the people, and the life they started together there. They were married in Las Vegas, NV in 1989 and moved to Yuma, Arizona in 1995. He is also survived by his sister, Cindy Ransom of Sparks, NV and his sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Paul Lasorsa of Ashby, Massachusetts, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Frankie Maye and John Longbottom of El Paso, TX and brother, David Longbottom of Bakersfield, CA.

Harry was a true man of character with a huge heart and great love for animals. He especially loved and cherished Faith's 30 pound German cat, Baby and their Australian Silky Terrier, Sheela, who went to work every day with Harry. Harry was lovingly known in the neighborhood as the dog-walker.

Harry has always considered Yuma, the Foothills and it's residents in particular, his hometown. In his community, he was a very active member of the Foothills Rotary, YEA and MOAA acting as a past President in all 3.

Harry will be deeply missed and never forgotten by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Memorial service will be held at Yuma Mortuary on Friday, April 15th at 2:00pm.
