Lisa Vest Obituary

Lisa Marie Vest, 43, of Winterhaven was called by God to return home on Friday, April 3, 2009. She was born at Fort Yuma Indian Reservation on April 11, 1965. She graduated from San Pasqual High School in 1983. During her teenage years she spent her time working at Tasty-Freeze and Mr. G's. She married her high school sweet heart Mitchell Vest and became a mother of three wonderful daughters she cherished. Lisa spent her time teaching her kids the morals of family to be respectful, avoid disliking each other, and to always stick close as as sister, and today her children follow those beliefs. She defended her family from loneliness and boredom. When the family had problems they called upon her and she listened to their complaints, she celebrated the family success and cursed their misfortunes. She was always there for her gold dust twin, Lala, they shared many memories together and always there for one another through their hard and good times. They gonged each other out when needed, they were more than sisters they were best friends and Lala will always cherish those beautiful memories. She left the family with these words: "Everybody can't be everything to each other, but some people can be something to each other". In her adolescent years she had love for all kids and she continued that love until her last breath and that earned her the "wonderful glory of life". She made her mother and sister envious it was evident that she had a special talent in raising her children. Her true personality was not to hold back laughter and that became increasingly funny, casual jokes gave her a timid giggle, at times she became jolly and made up her own dances and songs, sometimes her own music. She spoke freely with confidence and yet remained stern in her decisions. We will never be given another chance to hear her voice or feel the closeness of her comfort. We all enjoyed her easy manner and so did many others. In her teenage years she was an avid long distant runner with her father, Lorey Cachora and she was also trained by him in mountaineering using climbing equipment to repel down high cliffs. With her skills of running and climbing she was able to defeat fear and most important was the challenge in learning the flexibility, balance and maintaining self control in difficult situations. In high school she was a member of a Native American Organization that supported school activities and sponsored social events. She was also elected to represent the school as Indian Princess. Lisa was a also a traditional dancer and participated in a dance group with the Quechan Legend Dancers and the founder of the group was her grandfather, Lorey Cachora Sr. The dance group participated in many Native American traditional events through out the states. Her last stage in life she excelled at craft making, cross stitching, and sewing. Her grandparents, Frank De Grande, Sarah L. De Grande, and Lorey Cachora Sr., and Edna B. Cachora preceded Lisa in death. Left behind are her relatives: husband, Mitchell Vest; daughters, Lori (Louie Throssell) Vest, Kimberly Vest, and Melissa Vest;; brothers, Petey-boy White, Jason White; sisters, Yolanda Cachora and Crystal Cachora; parents, Lorey Cachora and Linda Cachora; grandparents, Blaze Montague, Flora Montague; father-in-law, Vernal Vest; sister-in-laws, Donna (Anthony) Mitchell and Brenda Harvier; brother-in-law, Michael (Blanca) Montague, and numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and close relatives and friends. Scripture service will take place at Funeraria Del Angel, on Friday, April 10, 2009 at 4 p.m. and will be followed by Tribal Ceremonial Rites. Cremation will be held at Quechan Cemetery on Saturday at 5 a.m. Pallbearers will be Petey-boy White, Jason White, Morales Escalanti, Michael Throssell, Michael Montague Jr., and Steven Harvier. Alternate pallbearers will be Isaac Figueroa and Anthony Mitchell Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Cachora, Walter De Grande, Billy De Grande, Tony De Grande, Manfred Scott, Arnold Millard, Angel Figueroa, Destry Escalanti, Randall Moody Jr., Anthony Cachora Sr., Anthony Cachora Jr., Dale Cachora, Derrick Cachora, Henry Ghiotto, Larry Hammond Jr., Greg Estupinan, Ernie Derma, BlasŽ Montague, Vernal Vest, Michael Montague Sr., Edward Caro, Robert Harvier, and Joe Hawkins.

I was saddened to hear the news today. May God bless the entire family with peace and comfort during this difficult time. I was blessed to have Lisa as a good friend during high school. And even though I moved away for 18 years, Lisa was a special person noone can ever forget. She was warm and kind-hearted and always had a big smile. Although i would have liked to tell her in person, im still going to say "thank you Lisa from the bottom of my heart for your sincere friendship during our high school years". To the entire family are my deepest sympathys and prayers.

It is with regret to hear of Lisa’s loss. It is unfortunate that the miles apart did not afford us the opportunity to cross paths often. It is apparent that Lisa will be missed as she truly illustrated the wonderful joy she had for life by creating, not only with her hands but with her soul, which allowed her to stitch the past and the present together to sew the pieces of the family together.

Our condolences to her life-long partner and husband, Mitchell, and her three daughters – Lori, Kimberly and Melissa as well as to her parents, brothers and sisters, uncles and aunts, nieces and nephews, in-laws, and to all of her cherished friends. When God gives us the opportunity to be touched by someone as loving as Lisa, they never really go away because they will always be with us in spirit, and we know that her spirit will always live on.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family. I was saddened by the news of Lisa's death. I knew Lisa from school. We attended San Pasqual together from Kindergarten thru the 12 grade. I always remember Lisa with her big smile. She was a great person and a good friend.
I hope you find comfort in knowing you have a special angel watching down on you.

Although it is difficult to see beyond sorrow;
May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.

We'd all like to thank all of you for your kind words, and the words that were not said but were the thoughts and prayers of you all. This gave us the strength to breath when breathing was the hardest thing to do because it hurt so bad.
Lisa is a great person with very gifted and unique qualities that touched many lives. Her gift to make us laugh when we were down by singing ad-lib songs, her gibberish that became a part of our language and her crazy dances that made us smile.
The love of my life, the center of our universe, my reason for being was taken while in my arms in peace to be with God.
Again I thank all of you so much.

To Mitchell, Lori, Kim, Melissa, may God be with you all during this time and offer you his love, guidance, and peace knowing that Lisa will always be in your hearts. You are all a testament to the love, the generosity and grace that Lisa freely bestowed on you as she did for many others that were fortunate to have known her.
To Yolanda and Crystal, I know you will never forget or lose the love that the both of you held for your sister Lisa. Sisters share a deep special bond that can never be broken; a love shared that few can know and a strength of character forged in your Sisterhood. Lisa’s daughters are now your daughters so guide them well with the love and wisdom that Lisa always carried in her heart.
To Lorey and my Auntie Linda, I am so very sorry for the loss of your daughter there are no words that can lightened the grief that you both feel. But please take some comfort and joy in the many loving memories you have of her…this can never be taken from you. Auntie Linda take pride in knowing how you and Lorey raised such a wonderful daughter and the beauty of Lisa’s legacy will continue on in her daughters and Grandchildren.
To all of you if you are in need of anything please let us know. We love you all and share in your grief during this difficult time. And pray that your pain will lessen more each day; so that you can continue to lead a good and happy life as Lisa would want you to have.
God Bless all of you
Sincerely your's the Estupinan Family
