Bobby Young Obituary

ZANESVILLE: Dr. Bobby D. Young, 84, of Zanesville, died at 3:24 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2009 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital.
He was born October 29, 1924, in Crooksville, a son of the late W. Glenn and Lela Lanning Young. He was a graduate of Ohio University and a 1953 graduate of the Ohio State University College of Medicine. He was a family physician, which he served as Staff Physician at Bethesda Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital and was a former Chief of Staff at Bethesda Hospital.
He was a 50 year member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Ohio State Medical Association. He was a member of the First Christian Church, American Medical Association, ZHS Quarterback Club, the ZHS Tip Off Club, the ZHS Soccer Boosters, and was a patron of the ZHS Baseball Boosters. He was a World War II Army Airborne Veteran, where he served in Central Burma India and was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal.
Surviving are his eight children, Sandy (Thomas) Lauvray of Dresden, Teresa Oakley, M. Dean (Jennifer) Young, Bobbi Young and Michael (Neddena) Young, all of Zanesville, J. Brady Young of Boston, MA., "Dee" White of Columbus and Marcia (Clay) Huebner of Marion, Ohio; 20 grandchildren, Alan (Jennifer) Lauvray, Kevin (Timera) Lauvray, Aaron Oakley, Rachel Oakley, Kate Young, Cassidy Harris, Caden Harris, J. Matthew Brady, Adam Young, KayLeigh Young, Kurt Young, Garrett Young, Jordan Young, Jessica Young, Jonathon Young, Caroline Young, "Pete" (Sarah) Beardmore, Beau Huebner, Gabrielle Huebner and Juliette Huebner; five great grandchildren, Lyndzie Lauvray, Laikyn Lauvray, Lydia Lauvray, Bradley Dodson and "Wrigley" Beardmore; a sister, Betty Gordon of Caldwell; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley J. Wagstaff Young, who died January 12, 2005; a sister, Evelyn Denny; and a brother, Fred Young.
Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville and one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2009 at the First Christian Church, 3000 Dresden Road, Zanesville with Rev. Dawn Remster officiating. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. VFW George Selsam Post #1058 will hold full military rites at the grave site.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Zanesville High School Athletic Department, Attn: Scott Aronhalt, Athletic Director, 1701 Blue Ave., Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
