Burl Calendine Obituary
ZANESVILLE: Burl L. Calendine, 81 of Zanesville, went to be with his wife at 9:05 PM on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 following a short illness at Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was born Wednesday, May 7, 1930 in Stockport, the son of Clifford Calendine and Mildred Garnet (Wallace) Calendine. He married Camilla A. (Burkhard) Calendine on Tuesday, March 22, 1949.
Burl retired after 40 years of employment with the Burnham Foundry as an Iron Pourer. He also worked for numerous other companies throughout Zanesville. Burl was a member of the Glass Molders, Pottery, Plastics and Allied Workers International Union, Local #292 of Zanesville. He was a Harley-Davidson owner and rider. A semi-pro basketball player for numerous local teams and participated in Golden Gloves Boxing. Burl was an avid hunter.
Burl is survived by two daughters: Barbara L. Glass of Panama City, FL. and Cam S. (Roger) Tyo of Zanesville; five sons: Buzz L. Calendine, Steve A. Calendine, Mark M. Calendine, Jon M. (Mary) Calendine and Matthew J. Calendine and fiancée' Annette M. Brassuer all of Zanesville; one daughter-in-law: Linda Calendine, 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother: Myron M. (Judy) Calendine of Gratiot; two sisters: Wanda J. Dailey and Shirley A. (Jim) Woodrow both of Nashport; three sister-in-laws: Sara A. Reichart, Mollie (Tom) Tysinger and Alicia Cover all of Zanesville and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Burl was preceded in death by his wife: Camilla A. Calendine who died February 27, 2010; one son: William L. Calendine; three daughters: Deborah A., Marcie K. and Diane E. Calendine; one sister-in-law: Nancy C. Burkhard; three brothers-in-law: Donald Dailey, John Reichart and Teddy Bill Roberts; and three long time best friends: Bob Hague, Jay Pound and Lester McGee.
At Burl's request no calling hours or services will be observed. A caring cremation will take place and private burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
