Ellen Sharp Obituary
ZANESVILLE: Ellen Jane Powelson Sharp, 87, of Zanesville, OH passed away Monday, October 31, 2016.
Surviving are two daughters Christina P. Sharp and Marian D. Thompson; one son Fountain R. (Jaynellen) Sharp; one grandson Colburn S. McWherter; great-grandchildren Clay and Ava McWherter; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, George W. Sharp; her parents Myron H. and Hazel B. Powelson Sr.; a brother Myron H. (Jean) Powelson II; and son-in-law Terry W. Thompson.
Contributions may be made to the George W. and Ellen P. Sharp Muskingum River Community Foundation Fund, 534 Putnam Ave., Zanesville, OH 43701 or the Muskingum County 4-H Saddle Horse Committee, c/o Muskingum County Extension Office, 225 Underwood St., Zanesville, OH 43701.
THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE, OHIO has been entrusted to care for the Sharp family. Burial was held in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.

Prayers to Miss Marian Sharp and her family for the loss of her Mom. I had both Marian and Ellen as teachers in school and will always remember them. The love they have for horses impressed me as I also have that love for horses. May the Lord strengthen your family and comfort you as you endure the painful loss of your Mom. Hugs...

Marian & family, I am so sorry for your loss. Ellen was known in the Arabian horse community, where I met her originally when I was a teen. She was very helpful to any horse person & would give advice & cheer you on, even if you were competing against her or a student of hers. She was a wonderful horsewoman, teacher & person.
