Frederick Atkins Obituary



Frederick Eugene Atkins ZANESVILLE: Frederick Eugene Atkins, 80, of Zanesville, passed away at 12:25 a.m. Sunday at Genesis Morrison House.

He was born March 17, 1930 at Roseville, the son of the late George Washington and Alice Axiea Dilly Atkins.

He was formerly employed by Ritchey's Produce and was a member of the Zanesville Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie Lodge #302.

He is survived by daughters, Mary Irene (Ernie) Romine of Roseville and Betty L. (Henry) Shirkey of Zanesville; son, Kenneth (MaryLou) Atkins of Zanesville; stepdaughters, Charlotte (Charles) Tilton and Sandra (Bill) Lorey both of Zanesville; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and special friend, Ester Jewell of Zanesville.

In addition to his parents; he was preceded by his wife, Mary Ann Atkins; and sisters, Martha Porter and Betty Irene Atkins.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Peter Mathewson officiating. Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery. The Fraternal Order of Eagles will conduct a service Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gene was my cousin and, I'm sorry to say, I haven't seen him in many years. Our fathers were brothers. My dad was Walter Atkins and he passed in 1996. I'm so sorry to hear about his passing. Blessings to all.
