Jillian Chernick Obituary

Jillian Erin Chernick

Zanesville - Jillian Erin Chernick, 18, left us at 4:52 A.M. on Sunday, May 2nd, 2021, at Genesis Emergency Room, Zanesville. She was born on April 2, 2003, in Zanesville, a daughter of Andrew R. and Elizabeth L. (Liz) Greene Chernick. She was a 2021 Graduate of West Muskingum High School and planned to attend St. Petersburg College in St. Petersburg, Florida, with her friends Chloe and Braelyn. She was bold and fun and brought joy (and chaos) to the lives of everyone who knew her. She was a hostess at Bob Evans and was especially grateful to her coworkers Scott and Kate. She was a lifelong supporter of the Animal Shelter, taking a particular interest in loving and advocating for pitbulls. Jillian could be quiet and reserved or loud and boisterous, but no matter which side you saw of her, she was impossible not to love. We won't find meaning in her death, but in her life, we can see a beautiful lesson in being who you are, living without fear, and ignoring all planned meeting times (even for weddings).

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Emily (Matthew Nazarian) Chernick, who waited fourteen years for a sister who then gave her the best 18 years of her life; and three brothers, Alex (Aili Swan) Chernick, Ryan (Natalie Watson) Chernick, and Jared Chernick; paternal grandmother, Janet Chernick; maternal grandmother, Carol Greene; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. She will be deeply missed by her dog, Ringo, who was the first to alert the household to the medical emergency. Ringo and Jillian were inseparable and had a friendship far beyond owner and pet.

She was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Lenny Chernick; maternal grandfather, Lawrence Greene; and her dog Max.

A Private Family Service will be held with her final destination being laid to rest in Florida.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jillian's name to the Animal Shelter Society, 1430 Newark Road, Zanesville OH 43701.

So sorry for your loss. We remember Jillian when she was a cute little girl and Alex’s baby sister at high school soccer games at West M. She always had a sweet smile on her face! Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I envision Jillian embodying her spirit animal,
the cheetah, soaring in the universe displaying all the wonderments she has shared with us all. Like the cheetah-she was a leader, independent, brave, protective and full of joyfulness and love. A lost that can not be duplicated. Sending blessings and love to each of you.
