John P. "Johnny" Danison

THORNVILLE: John P. "Johnny" Danison, 75, of Thornville, formerly of Somerset, died at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at FairHoPe Hospice in Lancaster.

Johnny was born March 21, 1936 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late Edgar R. and Mildred Mautz Danison.

He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ and had been an elder and deacon. Johnny retired from Roper Corp. after 20 years of service, was then employed by Chilcote Coal Co., Northern Local School District, and did some local trucking of lime and fertilizer. He also farmed all of his life.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Treva M. Stimmel Danison, whom he married November 27, 1953; three daughters, Vickie (Richard) Horodyski, of North Carolina, Jeri (Charlie Dupler) Danison of Somerset, and Karma (Doug) McConaha of Galena; six loving grandchildren; five loving great-grandchildren; one brother, Roger (Joyce) Danison of Lancaster; a sister-in-law, Mary Danison of Somerset; and his little dog, Pepper.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Danison.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2011 with Dr. Herbert Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Somerset Cemetery.
