Margaret Dunlevy Obituary

Margaret Eleanor Dunlevy

ZANESVILLE: Margaret Eleanor Dunlevy, 93, of Zanesville, Ohio died early Monday morning, March 18, 2013 at Emeritus at North Hills in Zanesville.

She was born January 6, 1920 in St. Catharines, Ontario Canada to the late Harold and Agnes Mary Smith Foster and grew up in Peterborough, Ontario.

She attended the University of Toronto. During World War II while working for Canadian General Electric, she was assigned to the United States to provide technical assistance in another plant in Butler, PA. There she met her husband, John E. Dunlevy, whom she married February 14, 1944 in Ogdensburg, NY. They were married almost 55 years until his death on January 3, 1999.

She proudly became a citizen of the United States on June 2, 1952.

Over the years Margaret worked as a clerk and bookkeeper for various Zanesville retailers including Bintz Department Store, Orpha Flowers Dress Shop, and McHenry's Shoes. Throughout that time, she was a devoted homemaker.

She was a member of Meadow Farm Church where she taught Sunday School. She was also a Girl Scout Leader for several years.

Her talents and interests were many. She loved languages and read widely. She enjoyed travel and camping with her family, gardening, woodworking, and bird watching, and many types of needlecraft. She loved dogs and cats, cookies and a good cup of hot tea, and was a big fan of the Cleveland Browns.

She is survived by one son, Harold J. Dunlevy (Sandra) of Decatur, Illinois; two daughters, Patricia L Peoples (William) of Marietta, Ohio, and Pauline C. Dunlevy of Columbus, Ohio. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and an infant son.

Services will be held at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville at 1 p.m. Friday (March 22) with the Reverend Linda N. Steelman officiating. Visitation will be held 11 a.m. Friday until the time of service. Entombment of ashes will be in the mausoleum at Greenwood Cemetery in Zanesville.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

The family extends its sincere thanks to Emeritus of North Hills staff and Genesis Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care.
